Project Description
The Shamli Peace Centre was established in May 2016 with support from the Centre for the Study of Society and Secularism. The Peace Centre’s main objectives are maintaining peace in villages that were stricken by riots in 2013, spreading understandings of pluralism and cultural diversity among mixed youth, and organizing cultural interventions to promote peace and harmony. Furthermore, the Peace Centre engages with youth as part of its peace programs through various activities in schools, colleges, and other venues.
The Shamli Peace Centre also works to create awareness of constitutional values and composite cultures in mixed communities, particularly in Shamli and Muzaffarnagar Districts.
